21 transnational projects recommended for funding for over 25Mio€!
In the context of its BiodivClim COFUND Action, BiodivERsA launched in September 2019 a joint call to support research on “Biodiversity and climate change”. The call was co-funded by the European Commission and covered four non-exclusive themes:
- Consequences of climate change on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people
- Climate-biodiversity feedback processes
- Potential of nature-based solutions for mitigating and adapting to climate change
- Synergies and trade-offs between policies on biodiversity, climate and other relevant sectors, and the role of agents of change.
In total, 231 pre-proposals and 82 eligible full proposals were received and evaluated by an independent Evaluation Committee who ranked the projects.
Strictly following the ranking established by the Evaluation Committee, 21 research projects have been shortlisted and recommended for funding by the BiodivClim Call Steering Committee – composed of all the funding organisations participating to the call – representing a total funding amount of over 25Mio€ (including funding from European Commission). In addition, three projects have been included in a complementary waiting list.

The 21 shortlisted projects are academically excellent projects, mobilising a wide range of disciplines, engaging many relevant stakeholders, and addressing various pressing scientific and societal issues.
!! Please note that the final list of funded projects will be definitely known and published upon national / regional decisions by BiodivClim partners (i.e., at this stage, the list presented below is a list of projects proposed for funding rather than funded for sure) !!
