The forum will focus on “knowledge and capacity to facilitate the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework” and will be an opportunity to:
- Learn more about the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and its monitoring framework
- Look at the Key Biodiversity Areas and how they can contribute to the GBF
- Explore how to build a coherent trans-European Nature Network of conserved areas by building on national experiences and by building on new knowledge.
This policy forum will be organised back to back with the BiodivProtect kick-off meeting which will take place on 19 April 2023.

- 13.40 – 14.00: Keynote on Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF): A New Global Outlook with Inclusive Goals and Targets
- 14.00 – 14.20: The GBF Monitoring Framework: Modus operandi of indicators and next steps
- 14.20 – 14.40: Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs): What do they offer to reach the GBF Goals and Targets? By the KBA Secretariat – Andrew Plumptre
- 14.40 – 15.00: NaturaConnect: Building a coherent Trans-European Nature Network of conserved areas
- 15.00 – 16.00: Panel Discussion-Session 1, experiences and needs of conservation actors to successfully implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
- 16.00 – 16.30: Coffee break
- 16.30 – 17.30: Panel Discussion-Session 2, knowledge and capacity to successfully implement GOAL A (significant increase of the area of natural ecosystems) of the Global Biodiversity Framework, links with the BiodivProtect projects
- 17.30- 17:45: Conclusion of the meeting
