On 29 September 2023, Biodiversa+ organised a training session for researchers from its BiodivProtect Call on how to harness the potential of social media for effective communication and research dissemination. The session aimed to equip participants with knowledge about selecting the right platforms, crafting engaging content, and managing information overload.
Understanding Social Media Platforms
The training began by addressing the importance of understanding the various social media platforms available for researchers. Participants learned how to choose the platforms that best suit their research goals. The session also emphasised the importance of maintaining a consistent online presence.
Crafting Engaging Content
Creating engaging content is essential to catch the attention of online audiences. The training provided concrete tips on crafting captivating posts, including visual elements, concise language, and the use of storytelling techniques.
Managing Time and Information Overload
The session also addressed the challenge of managing time and information overload on social media platforms. Researchers were given practical advice on creating content calendars and efficiently curating content.
