Join Biodiversa+ for this year’s Alternet Summer School on
Biodiversity and Society: Science, Policy, and Transformative Change
4-14 September 2024, in Peyresq, France.
Focus: This year’s program delves into the challenges of biodiversity management and conservation. Explore drivers of biodiversity loss, the role of ecological knowledge, and the importance of social sciences.
What to expect?
- Morning talks and discussion with 20 invited speakers
- Afternoon group work on a mutual learning project about the local social-ecological system and its possible futures
- “Aperitif” talks prior to dinner
- Field trips to the mountain pastures used by local shepherds and the Parc National du Mercantour
- Free time in the evenings for leisure and further discussion

Costs and grants
- Participation fee: €1,200 (covers accommodation, meals, refreshments, and field trips). Travel costs not included.
- A limited number of grants are available to waive all or part of the fee for students from under-resourced countries and one Ukrainian student. Contact Alternet Secretariat for details.
- Biodiversa+ offers additional support for up to four Biodiversa project members (early career researchers). This covers registration fees and travel costs (upon successful application to the summer school). Contact Julia Bethe for details.
