The policy brief on “How soil biodiversity can strengthen resilience and ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes” presents information on how soil biodiversity supports a wide range of ecosystem services, and influences crop properties beyond productivity, but that its benefits are often not well-known or underestimated.
The brief therefore calls for a better consideration of soil biodiversity as a unique aspect of soil health; encourages policymakers to provide incentives for farmers and support local implementation plans complementary to more global policies such as the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the New Green Deal.
It builds on the results of 3 BiodivERsA funded projects: SoilMan, Digging-Deeper, and SOILCLIM funded under the BiodivERsA 2015-2016 Joint Call for research projects.
