The BiodivRestore Knowledge Hub (KH) is pleased to invite you to its final conference, a strategic capstone event designed to bridge the gap between research and the practical implementation of the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR). As the Hub concludes its work, which started in May 2024, this event serves as a launchpad for future restoration efforts across Europe.
The synthesis of the core findings of the Hub will translate scientific evidence into actionable knowledge, helping Member States and practitioners navigate the challenges of drafting and implementing National Restoration Plans (NRPs).
This event is open to any participants interested in the topic of nature restoration, and is particularly interesting for stakeholders involved in the strategic delivery of nature restoration:
- Member State representatives in charge of NRR implementation.
- EU policymakers and relevant European institutions.
- Restoration practitioners and professional networks.
- Researchers and KH experts.
What can you expect from the conference?
This conference focuses on the operational uptake of KH products by Member States, policy actors, and restoration practitioners.
The primary goals are to:
- Accelerating operational uptake: synthesis of KH achievements demonstrating value for EU restoration policy and for the NRR.
- Supporting NRR implementation: how KH outputs can directly support the drafting, assessment, and revision of National Restoration Plans.
- Facilitating lasting dialogue: a dedicated space for meaningful, long-term exchange between Member State representatives, EU policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to ensure collaborative efforts extend beyond September 2026.

The half-day conference is structured around interactive dialogues and high-level policy framing:
1. Policy framing: what is needed now?
Interventions from the EC and Member State representatives to identify implementation bottlenecks at EU and national levels.
2. Evidence-based support for restoration challenges
Interactive sessions focusing on five core implementation challenges:
- Governance and coordination: addressing institutional fragmentation and the role of national hubs.
- Monitoring and adaptive management: tools for baselines, indicators, and learning loops.
- Restoration integrity and quality: ensuring biosecurity, material provenance, and long-term effectiveness.
- Participation and capacity building: navigating stakeholder engagement and societal conflicts.
- Financing: exploring public-private partnerships and long-term support structures.
3. Uptake dialogues: making tools usable
Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with KH products, focusing on technical details, Q&A, and operationalisation for their specific contexts.
