On the 4th of May 2022, Biodiversa+ and Water JPI organised the virtual kick-off meeting of the research projects funded under their joint 2020-2021 research Call on “Conservation and restoration of degraded ecosystems and their biodiversity, including a focus on aquatic systems” (BiodivRestore).
22 excellent research projects with potential impact on society and / or policy were funded through this joint call for 21.3 million euros Introduced by two keynotes, one by Judith Fisher (Vide-Chair of the 2020-2021 Call’s Evaluation Committee) and one by Kris Decleer (senior researcher at the Institute for Nature & Forest and board member of the “Society of Ecological Restoration”), this kick-off gathered around 200 unique attendees with a broad range of profiles: researchers, stakeholders, representative of the European Commission, Biodiversa+ and BiodivRestore Partners.
It allowed the 22 funded projects to present their work and what they are planning to do during their 3-years project and to start identifying areas of collaboration among them.
