Date & time: Tuesday 9 June 2026, 10:00-10:45 (UTC+2)
Format: Online webinar, with presentations followed by Q&A
Speakers: Elisabeth Bakker (KPMG Nederland), Wouter Huurman (KPMG Nederland), Donna Teske (Naturalis Biodiversity Center)
Companies and financial institutions are increasingly expected to understand their impacts and dependencies on nature. To do this, they need biodiversity data that can support assessment, reporting and action. A common concern is that biodiversity data is missing or too difficult to use. In practice, much of the challenge lies elsewhere: data exists, but it is often fragmented, uneven in quality, difficult to interpret, or not yet connected to concrete business decisions.
On Tuesday 9 June 2026, 10:00 (UTC+2), Biodiversa+ will host a webinar to present its “Business guide to using biodiversity data”, part of the Business & Biodiversity Toolkit.
The guide supports companies and financial institutions in making better use of publicly available biodiversity and nature-related data. It explains where to find relevant data, how to assess its suitability, what limitations to keep in mind, and how public data can inform biodiversity assessments, disclosures and strategies.
During this 45-minute webinar, participants will hear from Biodiversa+ and the authors of the guide, followed by a Q&A session. The webinar will introduce:
- why public biodiversity data matters for private sector decision-making;
- where companies can find and access relevant biodiversity and nature-related data;
- common challenges around quality, resolution, comparability and licensing;
- how companies can build internal capacity to interpret and apply biodiversity insights.
This webinar is part of a short Biodiversa+ series presenting the Business & Biodiversity Toolkit, a set of practical guides to help organisations mobilise biodiversity data for nature-positive action. Another webinar focuses on sharing biodiversity data from the private sector.
