BioAgora, a key collaborator of Biodiversa+, is seeking experts to investigate the interlinkages and dependencies between biological and cultural diversity and the associated knowledge gaps. Applications are open until 21 October 2026 at 12:00 CEST.
The call responds to a knowledge request from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation to the Science Service for Biodiversity, currently under development by BioAgora.
The expert group will contribute to a synthesis of scientific, grey and practice-based evidence on the two-way relationships between cultural practices, cultural diversity and biodiversity. The work will identify knowledge gaps and priority research questions to inform future European research priorities.
Who is the call for?
BioAgora is seeking:
- Experts in participatory processes and engagement methods.
- Researchers working on agrobiodiversity, transformative change, anthropology, ethnology, Indigenous and local knowledge, pastoralism and conservation.
- Social scientists, including agrarian and rural sociologists.
- Public policy analysis experts.
- Practitioners, NGOs and civil society organisations, international organisations and policy actors.
Participation and applications
The work will take place from October 2026 to May 2027, with participation on a pro bono basis. Contributions will include online sessions to develop the evidence synthesis, a dedicated call for knowledge and a workshop bringing researchers, knowledge holders, policymakers and societal actors into dialogue.
