Speakers: Rachel Kristensen (Municipal Councillor, City of Nedlands) and Franziska Wenskus (University of Duisburg-Essen), both BiodivRestore Knowledge Hub experts.
Existing restoration experience and scientific knowledge offer valuable lessons to support the implementation of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR), and to get restoration right.
This webinar, organised by Biodiversa+ and the BiodivRestore Knowledge Hub, will provide practical guidance on planning, implementing and monitoring ecosystem restoration. It will give you the keys to understanding the NRR and make informed decisions. This webinar draws on the recently released digest Getting restoration right together: A foundational digest on the Nature Restoration Regulation, which combines scientific knowledge, restoration principles and examples from research and practice.
The webinar is particularly relevant for restoration practitioners, project managers and public authorities working at local, regional and national levels, as well as professionals involved in preparing, implementing or reviewing National Restoration Plans, researchers, land managers and other stakeholders involved in restoration.
What can you expect:
- An overview of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR), its implementation challenges and how to address them;
- Restoration DOs and DON’Ts in light of the key NRR objectives and obligations;
- Specific guidance for various ecosystems restoration;
- Practical decision support for developing and reviewing National Restoration Plans, and for planning, implementing and monitoring restoration at different scales.
