Back to key collaborations

Biodiversa+ and CO-OP4CBD (Cooperation for the Convention on Biological Diversity) have been proud key collaborators since September 2025. Both organisations are joining forces to organise and participate in side events at key conferences, and strengthen their work in capacity building and in resource production (guidelines, handbooks, methods, and online dissemination of results).

CO-OP4CBD is a Horizon Europe-funded project that aims to enhance coordination and leverage existing expertise and initiatives within the EU to support the implementation of the UN CBD. It engages the best available experts to help the EU, Member States and associated countries to support their negotiators in the CBD processes.

CO-OP4CBD facilitates access to European expertise through enhanced mechanisms for technical and scientific cooperation, and through targeted capacity-building. It also contributes to the development of an effective monitoring and review process for the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF) by the UN CBD Parties. Furthermore, it reinforces capacity-building through workshops and training sessions and organises meetings and calls for experts and researchers.

SBSSTA-27 Biodiversa+ and Co-op4CBD

In the past, Biodiversa+ and CO-OP4CBD successfully worked together on side events such as SBSTTA-25 2023 Nairobi, SBSTTA-25 2023 Nairobi, 2025 Alternet conference in Alveiro, and SBSTTA-27 in Panama city.

As key collaborators, Biodiversa+ and CO-OP4CBD teams are working together to develop training materials and other resources.

The two initiatives also continuously explore additional thematic collaborations to support the biodiversity Science-Policy Interface. They are currently developing the CBD Guide for experts, a practical new resource designed to help knowledge holders, researchers, and policymakers navigate and participate more effectively in the Convention on Biological Diversity processes.
