Nature-based Solutions (NbS) projects produce valuable knowledge, resources and practical experience. A key challenge is making this work easier to find, connect and use.
To support this, Biodiversa+ and NetworkNature organised a series of interactive sessions on the European Roadmap for Research & Innovation on Nature-based Solutions. The sessions helped NbS projects explore how their work can connect to the Roadmap, increase the visibility of their results and contribute to a more coordinated European R&I landscape for NbS.
The Roadmap
The Roadmap provides a common reference point for NbS research and innovation in Europe. It helps take stock of ongoing work, identify knowledge and implementation gaps, and connect project activities to shared priorities up to 2030. It is structured around four action areas:
- Advancing NbS knowledge and data
- Closing the NbS research-implementation gap
- Mainstreaming NbS in policy
- Exchange, capacity building and awareness
For projects, the Roadmap offers a way to situate their work within the wider European R&I effort on NbS and show how individual outputs contribute to common priorities.
Contribute to the Roadmap update
The Roadmap is expected to be updated in 2027, based on the latest data and ongoing research. NbS projects are invited to support this update by mapping their activities and outputs to the Roadmap’s action areas. These contributions will help build a more accurate picture of current NbS work across Europe, highlight emerging needs and inform future research, innovation, policy and funding priorities.
Projects can also increase the visibility of their resources by adding them to the NetworkNature website and tagging them with the relevant Roadmap keywords.
