The 6th European Climate Change Adaptation (ECCA) Conference is taking place from 19 to 21 June 2023, in Dublin, Ireland. This year’s theme is “Actionable Knowledge for a Climate Resilient Europe”.
During the conference, the BiodivClim Knowledge Hub will host a session on “Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Adaptation” on 20 June. The session will explore projects and initiatives relevant to society and policy, aiming to prevent biodiversity loss and address climate change impacts.
Notably, the session will highlight the pilot school outreach programmes initiated by GLOBE Ireland. These programmes empower young people to observe, investigate, and propose climate-resilient strategies within their schools. Students participating in these programs have examined local climate patterns, assessed the suitability of nature-based solutions for flood prevention and heatwave resilience, and engaged with climate experts.
Rita Sousa-Silva and Filipa Grilo, junior co-chairs of the BiodivClim Knowledge Hub task-forces, will also moderate other sessions and present the knowledge hub’s missions and progress to the public.
