Biodiversity issues lie at the intersection of multiple political and socio-economic interests. To address these complexities and promote a cross-sectoral approach to the conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity, Biodiversa+ collaborates closely with a wide range of stakeholders from policy, practice, and business. This engagement is embedded in every step of our processes and across all core activities.

We also actively foster science-society and science-policy interfaces throughout the entire research cycle—from programme design to the dissemination of results. While academic excellence remains a key evaluation criterion, funded projects are also expected to demonstrate innovative approaches for engaging stakeholders and increasing the societal relevance and impact of their research.

Stakeholder engagement in the

Biodiversa+ governance structure

Biodiversa+ ensures meaningful stakeholder engagement through multiple levels of its governance.

  • The Enlarged Stakeholder Board enables two-way dialogue, facilitating the exchange of information and the mobilisation of a wide range of stakeholders across sectors.
  • The Advisory Board brings together selected stakeholders to provide strategic guidance and feedback on our activities.
  • Targeted collaborations are established with key stakeholders, including through sub-contracting arrangements when relevant, to support specific actions or objectives.
