We’re pleased to announce the release of the second-year report from our pilot project on monitoring Invasive Alien Species (IAS) using image-based methods. Launched in January 2023, the project has been extended through 2027 due to its success. The report outlines the progress made in testing scalable tools for monitoring invasive plants and insects across Europe using cutting-edge camera technology and AI. Key advancements include the development of the CamAlien system for plant monitoring and the expansion of AMI traps for insect detection. Data collected is stored in the Electronic Research Data Archive (ERDA) and shared through platforms like GBIF and EASIN. The full report details the project’s findings and future plans to refine protocols and improve monitoring efficiency.
