Biodiversa+ is opening a call for tender! We are seeking a subcontractor to conduct a comprehensive study on the effectiveness of citizen science in contributing to biodiversity monitoring schemes. This call is part of our objective to promote and support transnational biodiversity monitoring, through the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.
Background
Citizen science, involving public participation in data collection and analysis, has shown great promise in improving our understanding of the natural world. However, its full potential in biodiversity monitoring remains untapped. This study aims to assess the impact of citizen science initiatives, identify best practices, and explore opportunities for scaling up such efforts.
Objectives
The successful subcontractor will address the following key questions:
- What methods are currently used to measure citizen involvement in long-term biodiversity monitoring programmes?
- Which methods are the most effective and why?
- How does citizen science positively impact research, decision-making, and society at large?
- What factors contribute to the successful implementation of citizen science initiatives at national level?
Submission
Proposals should be submitted online by 2 September 2024.
